Radiology

Digital radiography enables our veterinarians to capture high-quality images of your pet’s internal organs and bones, aiding in the accurate diagnosis of conditions like arthritis, bone fractures, foreign objects, organ enlargement, tumors, and pulmonary issues.

Ultrasound

Using ultrasound technology, our team can generate images of your pet's internal body structures, including muscles, tendons, joints, internal organs, and blood vessels. This technology is generally used in conjunction with radiology to obtain a more complete analysis of yours pet’s condition.

Blood and Lab Tests

Preanesthetic, annual or baseline, and diagnostic blood work can be performed to assist our team in diagnosing problems early for timely intervention or during certain illnesses helping to confirm or formulate a diagnosis.

  • Intra-articular Regenerative Therapies

    • AlphaFlo®: a liquid, acellular, canine amniotic tissue allograft comprised of amnion intended to supplement and protect tissues that is cryopreserved and available at the time of exam.

    • This product may be used intra-articular, intra-lesional or locally.

    • Amnion and amniotic fluid are rich sources of biologically active factors involved in tissue regeneration with reported anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, re-epithelialization, and anti-fibrotic properties. 

    • Amniotic tissues contain key growth factors, amino acid, hyaluronic acid, proteoglycans, and extracellular matrix proteins recognized as intrinsic to the complex tissue healing process.

  • Therapeutic Laser Treatment

    • The term laser is an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation and uses light for therapeutic purposes which is called phototherapy.

    • Therapeutic laser therapy has been increasingly incorporated into rehabilitation programs for a variety of conditions, including: skin wounds, muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries, neurologic conditions, arthritis and pain.

    • The physiologic effects of therapeutic laser therapy include: pain attenuation, reducing inflammation by decreasing inflammatory cytokines, enhancing tissue repair, improving soft tissue tensile strength and increasing collagen production.

Wheatland Veterinary Hospital offers rehabilitation consultations for your canine companion. Work with a specialty-trained member of our veterinarian team to build a custom physiotherapy protocol to support your at home care for all canine musculoskeletal injuries (board eligible 2025). This option is great for all musculoskeletal injuries including post-operative cases.
